What is the chilled Water System?
A chilled water system is a system used to cool the air in large buildings. It works by cooling water in a central chiller unit, and then pumping this chilled water to distribution units inside the building, such as fan coil units or air handling units.
How it works
Water is cooled in the chiller. Cold water is pumped through pipes to the air conditioning units inside the building. These units circulate air over the chilled water pipes, cooling the air. The water, which has absorbed heat (becomes DAFTA), returns to the chiller to be re-cooled.
